LIl' Wayne Going to Jail

Grammy Award winning rapper, Lil' Wayne, will be heading to jail in February for gun charges. He is expected to head to jail by February 9th, just days after his new CD will be released, "The Rebirth." Lil' Wayne pleaded guilty to possession of a .40 caliber gun that was found on his tour bus in New York City in 2007. He is sentenced to a year in prison in New York but will probably serve 8 months. He potentially could have spent 15 years in jail for each count of criminal weapons possession and possession of a loaded weapon. I for one am glad that Lil' Wayne is only going to serve a year in jail but it's only because he is one of the most famous rap stars out there. Stars are always getting out of trouble due to their star power and money. It is somewhat unfair that if a regular person was to commit the same crimes they would face way more jail time. Lil' Wayne's jail experience will probably be very easy going and he will probably not face any hardships. I bet he will be very popular in jail and a lot of people will stand up for him. This is not the first time that Lil' Wayne is facing criminal charges however. In 2008, he was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and narcotics and got out of the case.

American Music Awards Gone Wild

On November 22nd, The American Music Awards were shown on ABC. When people are watching a music award show they usually tune in to watch to see who wins awards and to watch the performances that are going to take place. The performers at the AMAs, included 50 Cent, The Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Jay-Z, Eminem, Adam Lambert, and many more. After all the awards that were given out and the all the performances were done the most talked about performance was that of Adam Lambert.
Adam Lambert was the runner-up in American Idol last year. His performance was very shocking and disturbing to many viewers. He had a dancer on a leash, he grabbed another dancer and pushed his head into his crotch simulating oral sex, and then made out with a male band member then flipped his middle finger. This is not someone who should be considered an "American Idol" by any means. Everything that he did was wrong, there are young children watching the American Music Awards with their parents and they have to watch two males make out with each other. That is going to confuse a lot of young viewers and put their parents in an awkward position. It doesn't matter what his sexual preference is, but you don't go on national television and do such vulgar things for the whole country to watch.

Are Social Networking Sites Addicting?

As much as we all love to go on sites like Facebook and Twitter we probably wouldn't admit that we are addicted to them. Although Facebook and Twitter are good because they let us chat with friends and have conversations, people probably spend a lot more time on these types of websites then they really should. These type of sites keep people stuck on computers wasting their time looking at pictures and leaving messages and then people still have the nerve to say they don't have time for certain things. I'll admit that I'm addicted to Facebook. I don't even realize it but as soon as I sit down at my laptop my fingers start automatically typing in facebook.com in the address bar. It's a pretty bad habit. I can also find myself drifting away to Facebook while I'm in the middle of doing school which is a total waste of time. People are addicted to social networking sites without even noticing because they are always on them. These sites are fun to be on but if abused can be a major waste of time. If people spent as much time focusing on something else as some people do on facebook or twitter they might have even enough time to learn a new language.

Poor Old Tiger

For just about the past two and a half weeks now, since Thanksgiving the top golfer in the world, Tiger Woods has been on every news station and in every news paper. A one car accident that Woods was in the early morning after Thanksgiving seemed almost harmless when everyone first heard about it. However, with each day after more and more information about the car accident was found out. Tiger's wife allegedly found out that he had cheated on her and she beat him up. After this happened every day or so another "mistress" that Tiger had slept with was leaked out through the media. In the New York Post they even posted an entire conversation via text message between Tiger and one of his "mistresses."
I think it is wrong that Tiger would cheat on his wife with several women, but it is equally wrong that his personal life is what families are talking about during dinner. I think it is very disrespectful to Tiger Woods that the women he allegedly slept with would sell their stories to news stations or news papers. All they are doing is hurting Tiger's image and I'm not sure if that's what they wanted to do that but it definitely doesn't help his cause. I think it is messed up that the news is allowed leak out to the whole world somebody's personal business. Even if the New York Post was given Tiger's text messages I wouldn't think that they would be allowed to publish them. Those are Tiger's personal text messages that he intended only for one person to see. I wouldn't be surprised if Tiger sued the New York Post for publishing his messages without his consent. I feel bad for Tiger because he has lost some of his sponsors because of all this publicity. It's about time we all leave Tiger alone.

3D is New Best Thing

As we all have noticed, lately more then ever there have been tons of 3D movies that are being released. Why Complain? 3D kicks ass! Watching a regular movie is exciting but when you make it 3D it takes it to another level. What is more exciting then characters and objects flying past your face.
To many people's surprise the 3D experience is coming to your television at home sooner then you think according to NBC. http://www.cnbc.com/id/34131812 In a matter of months all types of television shows will be in 3D, from cartoons to real-world programing. 3D television programs are going to be created by a company in Hollywood that is already off and running called 3Ality Digital. You of course need a new television that is 3D capable to view any 3D shows, but these televisions are being released in several months by Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Toshiba. When I was younger I would have never thought that in my lifetime I would ever see a television that you could watch 3D shows or movies on. Television just keeps on getting more and more amazing, making more and more couch potatoes everyday. However the technological advances in televisions in the past decade are truly impressive.

Will Digital Readers Increase Amount of Reading?

With all of the new technology we have today, who is surprised to hear that we can now download books and read them digitally? Products like the Kindle, The Nook, and The Vook allow people to have thousands of books all conveniently stored on a single device. How awesome is it that someone can have a whole library in their pocket. Now-a-days pretty much everything is going digital and I think that having books in a digital format will attract younger people to start to read more. Instead of playing with a cell phone or video game they can play with their digital book and actually be doing something beneficial.
Younger children can get bored easily with books but if they have something that they can touch and press buttons on then it will probably keep them more engaged. Maybe in the future they'll even have stories on digital readers that help teach kids how to read.
As for older people, they are so lazy that they don't even want to have to turn the pages of they're book. Now all they have to do is press a button and the page will turn for you. Another reason I think that digital readers will increase the amount of reading is because already today we have millions of people going online to read their news so if we have people reading online why wouldn't they read off a digital reader. I know that if I had a digital reader I would definitely read more books. I think it is easier for me to read on a digital screen then in a book for some reason.

Mac vs. PC

When ever someone is about to go out and purchase a new laptop or computer they need to decide what type they would like. PC's used to be more popular about ten years ago but now the Mac is starting to take over the computer world. I used to have PC's my whole life up until about a year and a half ago. I can remember going through about three different PC's because they would always get viruses and crash. With a Mac it is almost impossible to get a virus. The Mac's operating system is just much more stronger then a PC's.
Mac's might cost a little more money then a PC but it is worth it in the long run. You won't have to worry about paying money to get your Mac fixed because Mac's usually don't have any problems. If you buy a PC you usually have to buy some type of anti-virus programs or get it fixed when it does get a virus.
Some people are hesitant to purchase a Mac because they don't know how to use it as well as they know how to use a PC. I'll admit at first that's why I didn't want a Mac. I remember saying to myself, Oh Mac's are so confusing and everything is backwards. It's turns out that it only takes a short amount of time to get used to using a Mac and as a matter of fact it actually is much more easier to use then a PC. Mac's are much more user friendly and more simple to understand. If you ask anyone who used to use PC's and now has a Mac if they would ever go back and they would tell you that they would have to be crazy to do that.

Publicity Stunts Going Too Far?

In Colorado a family built a balloon type hover craft and told everyone that their son had accidentally fallen into the craft and been in it while it was flying around. This whole incident was broadcasted live on the news and thousands of people were watching in fear as this balloon flew through the air while thinking that a boy was trapped inside. Police and even the National Guard had to be called to help catch this runaway balloon.
It turns out that when they got to the balloon there was no boy inside. The family then said that the boy was hiding in the attic of the garage the whole time. The next day the family was on Larry King Live and were being interviewed about the situation when the little boy who was supposedly trapped inside the balloon slipped up on a question. The interviewer asked the little boy if he heard anyone calling his name while he was in the attic and he said yes and then was asked why he didn't come out of the attic and he replied, "We did it for the show."
The parents had planned out the entire thing because they wanted to try and land a reality T.V. show. They wanted it to seem like they thought he was in the balloon and then was miraculously fine because he was hiding in the attic. The parents allegedly paid a news team to be on the scene as it was happening. The parents are likely to face jail time for lying to basically the whole country.
How far will people go to try and become famous? Now that we all have seen and heard about this stunt, do you think we will see more phonies in the future trying to get some spotlight? I think most definitely we will see more stunts now because there are a lot of dumb people out there that probably think that if these people are a little bit famous for this then maybe if they do something dumb they will become famous. A good example of this would be when the MTV show Jackass first came out, tons of people were trying to create there own versions of Jackass. C'mon we all can admit to making at least one Jackass video.

Television on Your Computer

Computers are no longer just used to type up essays or research information on, now they are used for all kinds of entertainment purposes. You can even watch movies and television shows on your computer now and the best part is you can watch them where ever you want if you have a laptop and you can watch them whenever you want at your convenience. On websites like Hulu.com you can watch full episodes of most popular television series for free. There also used to be a website, watchtvsitcoms.com, where you could watch any HBO series for free, but I'm pretty sure it has been shut down now. Besides websites where you can watch T.V. shows there are things like iTunes, where you can purchase episodes of television shows as well as movies to watch.
Why are people choosing to watch T.V. on their computers instead of on an actual T.V.? Perhaps since they do everything else on their computer maybe it is just more convenient for them to watch T.V. on it as well. Maybe some people don't have a television in their bed room but they have a laptop. Either way watching T.V. on your laptop in the library in between classes is pretty cool. Technology is advancing everyday and sooner or later we are going to have one device that can do everything we need on it.
T.V. on our computer could probably effect ratings on television because if everyone is watching T.V. on their computers then they won't watch it on television. Websites that allow people to watch shows are probably going to have to start charging a fee so the shows can profit from people watching them and incorporate the number of viewings online as well to not loose ratings.

Ban Texting While Driving

Most everyone uses text messaging in today's technology driven society, but the time not to text is while you drive. I have been in the car many times with a friend who is texting while driving and I have to scream at him to stop because he nearly clips a pole or an on coming car. It is very dangerous to text while you drive because instead of focusing on the road like you are suppose to be doing, you are looking down at your phone. It is even worse if you have a phone with a keyboard because then you have to use two hands and then steer the car with your knees.
According to Newsday's article, "Tougher on Texting", texting led to the deaths of 44 teens on Long Island in the last five years. I usually don't text while I drive because I don't feel safe doing it, I would rather call someone while I'm driving even though that is illegal already. It's better then looking down because I usually drive with one hand anyway. They are banning texting in New York as of November 1st and I am glad. If nobody is texting it will be a lot safer for anyone who is on the road. I think that it is most dangerous for people who are just beginning to learn how to drive to text because then they aren't concentrating on driving they are more focused on their phone.
In "Tougher on Texting" it also says that The AAA is seeking to have texting banned in every state by 2013. I think that is a good move to make but they shouldn't make the punishment for getting caught while texting the first time so harsh. It should be like a $50 fine or something like that, but if you get caught for texting for then once it should be a more harsh fine.
